Focused Ministries

Born Jesse Biggs Jr. on August 22, 1931 to Jesse Sr. and Eldora of Plains, Georgia, my father provided leadership, nurturing, encouragement, and support for a loving wife and three children until his departure from this life on December 1, 1997.  Aside from Jesus, he is the only role model I've ever had or desired.

A drum major for Christ, he answered God's call to the ministry in 1969.  He first sermon was "A Spiritual Examination."  Having been called along with his best friend Rev. Percy Bass, both preached their trial sermons on the same day.  Rev. Bass' sermon was "The Handwriting on the Wall."

These two continued a long friendship over the years, attending seminary together and fostering church fellowship as they both were blessed with pastoral assignments.

In an effort to maintain some sense of privacy, I will not name my loving brother and sister.  However, this page would not be complete if I did not mention the woman who made my father's life complete.  Allie Howard married Jesse on October 16, 1955.  They grew happily together and stronger in Christ as the years passed.  A stellar voice for Christ in her own right, my mom is a highly sought after speaker/teacher.  Mom and dad shared and passed on a love to us that far exceeds the tinkling brass of fancy words.  Always cognizant of the needs of others, they taught by example giving their all or last and walking by faith.

I could never thank my father or mother enough for what they have done for me.  Probably the best way to show their labor was not in vain is to live a life of love.  As Paul shared with the church at Corinth in his first letter, words are not enough you must reveal the truth in your actions.

If you were to die today, what would your gravestone read?
